Cookie Policy

This site uses a small set of measurement tools: analytics to understand how the site is used, advertising tags to measure campaigns and a lead tracker that connects an enquiry to the visit that produced it. Every tool is listed below, along with how to control or block it.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. It lets the site recognise your browser on a later request, which is how things like staying logged in and counting a returning visitor work. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are called first party. Cookies set by another domain are called third party.

The tools this site runs

Tags are loaded through Google Tag Manager, which is a container for the tools below and sets no cookies of its own.

ToolWhat it doesCookies it may set
Google Analytics 4Counts visits and pages read, so we can see which content is useful and which is ignored_ga and _ga_*, up to two years
Google AdsMeasures whether our advertising produced a visit or an enquiry, and supports remarketing to previous visitors_gcl_au and related conversion cookies
Meta pixelMeasures whether Meta advertising produced a visit or an enquiry, and supports remarketing to previous visitors_fbp
Microsoft ClaritySession replays and heat maps that show how pages are actually used, with keystrokes and form entries masked_clck and _clsk
Lead tracking (HighLevel)Connects a submitted enquiry or a call to the pages and campaign that led to it, so we know what is workingFirst party visitor identifiers
Ahrefs AnalyticsAggregate usage measurementNone. It is cookieless by design

WordPress also sets functional cookies (wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_*, wp-settings-*), but only when a Method 21 team member signs in to administer the site. A visitor is never given these.

What the data is used for

Measuring which pages get read, which campaigns produce enquiries and where the site frustrates people. It is used to improve the site and the advertising that pays for it. We do not sell personal information. The advertising tools above can count as sharing under some state laws, which is why every one can be blocked and why we honour Global Privacy Control signals as opt out requests.

What is recorded even without cookies

Our web server keeps standard access logs: the IP address making the request, the page requested, the browser's user agent string and the time. That happens for every website on the internet and does not involve a cookie. We use it to diagnose faults and spot abuse, and the logs are overwritten on a rolling basis.

How to control cookies

Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies. Blocking cookies on this site has no effect on what you can read.

  • Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies
  • Safari: Settings, then Privacy
  • Firefox: Settings, then Privacy & Security
  • Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions

For the advertising side specifically, Google's ad personalisation controls are at adssettings.google.com. Browsers can also send a Global Privacy Control signal, and we honour it as an opt out request.

Where a consent banner is legally required for a visitor's region, the measurement tags do not fire until consent is given.
